By Berwyn Fire Company April 20, 2011 The Radnor Fire Company, along with an Engine from Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 5:35 p.m. to the unit block of Briar Rd. in Tredyffrin Township for a house fire.
Squad 15 (Radnor) arrived on location to find a large single family home with smoke showing from the roof area. Initial fire crews from Radnor and Berwyn worked through heavy smoke conditions to access the fire which had taken hold of the attic area.
Additional assistance was called from the King of Prussia, Paoli, Malvern and Bryn Mawr fire companies.
Due to the extent of the fire, crews were briefly evacuated to utilize the water master stream from Tower 47 (King of Prussia). Firefighters eventually re-entered the home to finish extinguishment and also performed salvage operations to save personal belongings for the homeowner and their family.
The Chester County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire that caused an estimated $900,000 in damage. There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.
