Picked up this Handsfree unit at surplus. Would like to just use it as an amplified speaker. A couple wires would be obvious, but I suspect there may be one that is "trigger" to apply power when the mobile radio is powered up. Then, of course, which is which for speaker and mic.

Anybody ever have one to wire up? There were no documents with this unit. I have come up empty searching.

I wonder if it has a VOX trigger? I would suggest that the audio input may be balanced which is fine for most modern radios. You will have two input leads if that is the case.

A VOX trigger certainly could be incorporated. I would not be plugging in any mic. The default mode should be speaker audio I would imagine.

Finding which wires to input audio to would be a crap shoot that I would not hesitate to find by trial and error with a low power input source.

Experimenting with power or any power-up trigger could be fatal.

There are three larger gauge wires. The red, black, and blue.

Darn. That was a bit dumb. I was taking a stab at it and now realize the power belongs at the barrel connector, not the bare wires.

Got some audio for a minute or so then the magic smoke appeared.

I'm pretty sure I have another one lying around. This one will become a speaker box. If I drive audio from a small amp it should sound OK.
