I left my 246T searching 166-168 last night and didn't hear a peep until just before 7am this morning (when it woke me up). It stopped on 166.275 with what sounded like a dispatcher saying "Oklahoma City." It displayed a PL tone of 127.3, so my first thought was that it was an image of the OCPD repeaters down around 159 MHz. But it was not, and when I looked up the freq on RR I found it is used with that tone by the Tribal Police up around Tulsa. Maybe this is the Indian Affairs Commission or something here in OKC. Any ideas?

The Creek Nation Lighthorsemen use that frequency and tone from their dispatch center in Okmulgee. It might have been them.

I have a good friend that is an officer for them. I can ask him if they use something on that frequency and tone closer to OKC.

It was probably them! The "skip" was bad this morning, I was hearing Woodward P.D. about the same time on Guthrie Fire 155.865

I agree, probably skip... Creek nation has an awesome repeater, I can hear them north of Skiatook loud and clear.

Well if it was skip, it was pretty good. I was using a rubber antenna on my 246T, but I was on a second-story floor. I can also see how Okmulgee could have been understood as "Oklahoma City", especially when I was half awake and not paying close attention. Darn -- I thought I might have found a new federal frequency....

You're hardcore (to search all night)!! Reminds me of my younger days doing the same thing.

Does anyone know where the Creek Nation's repeater is located? And it's wattage. For some reason (maybe something to do with it being a federal license?) it's not listed in the database.

As reference for why they has such a powerful repeater, I'm attaching a map showing how larger the nation is.

I bet you're referring to the Preston repeater site the Okmulgee County and OHP use. I kinda thought that might be the place since that site is well populated with towers and centrally located inside the nation.

Cool place. Many, many moons ago there was a large Boy Scout camp just south of that ridge. There's still an abandoned recreation lake system with old campsites. If you have the courage to brave getting shot, there's also a set of dilapidated cabins half way up the ridge.

Preston. Thats it. I just could not remember the name.

I will trust you on the cabins, getting shot is not in my
immediate plans.

That ridge is a great radio spot (although there is a better one
in Okmulgee county - just a bit north ROFL) and gives pretty good
coverage.

The power I am willing to bet is 100 watt repeater. (got some
experience with some other tribal repeaters)

Hey guys,FYI Cherokee Nation Marshal Service uses that frequency for one
of its repeaters as well.
Just thought I'd throw it in.

When I worked in Guthrie as an officer I would hang out in dispatch and the skip on the fire side of things was always bad
