I wonder if the city of Trinity will eventually move to the system ? Or keep that ragity old VHF hi frequency ?
I hope so, they are only about 25 miles away and come in crappy.

You can update it with the Sentinel software as far as I know, shouldn't have to send it in to get updated.
To update a Uniden HomePatrol 2 scanner, you can use the Sentinel Software to update the firmware on your SD card:
But in any case you should be receiving transmissions at night if you are listening to Public Service freqs and have the scanner programmed right.

- Open the Sentinel Software
- Select your device
- Under Update, select Update Firmware
- If the SD card is formatted correctly, the software will automatically find it
- Click OK to update
- Select your model and press OK
- The software will update the SD card
- Click OK again to finish
You can also do DMR, NXDN, and Provoice upgrades from home. Although in our area they aren't really needed unless you want to listen to the Electric companies or Trains.
