Extreme newbie to linux here, I got trunk recorder working on 1 dongle recording wav files from our conventional NFM 453-454 Mhz public safety band. What is the easiest way to listen to these wav files on a continuous basis locally or streamed? All of the options like Trunk player, rad.io, Liquid soap, etc.... look pretty daunting to configure.

Sorry thread title should have been
"Trunk Recorder Works, now what?" I have all these playable wav files being generated, and would like to know the most pain free way to listen to them without intervention.

Trying to answer my own dumb, questions. Does audioplayer.php or audioplyerV2.php in the trunk recorder directory work? Besides installing php is if difficult to get going?
Thanks!

I'm still in the process of getting my stuff working (config.json issue) so take my advice with a grain of salt. I think you'll want to also install trunk player for easy playback. There are some other options noted on the trunk-recorder wiki, one being openMhz.

OK here is my quick and dirty live playback for trunk recorder.

You need a media player like Rhythmbox. It has the capability of adding new recordings to a playlist and then playing them automatically.

To set this up simply go to edit/preferences/music and provide the path to your top most folder created by trunk recorder.

Check the box which says watch my library for new files. As the wav files are created by trunk recorder they are added to the play list.

If you sort the playlist on date and time you start the first recording playing, RB wil then continue on to the next recording after it is finished.

The effect is like real time listening - the only bother is if it reaches the end of the list, then you have to hit the play button to start it up again.

I usually wait until a few have built up in the list before starting, if the traffic is busy it will usually stay ahead of the playback. At the end of my sessions I just blow the top folder away, trunk recorder creates a new one each time so I don't need to worry about accumulating a bunch of stuff I don't need after the session.

Also uncheck most of the columns available for the playlist.
It is quick and dirty but works great for me.
