I have had until recently both Whistler TX-1 & TX-2 as well as my BC 996P2 and my BC325P2, and the Whistler units can trunk track the local NXDN systems just fine.
However my Uniden units will not and I have enter the NXDN systems on them in conventional mode to hear them at all. Has anybody else experienced this issue?
Oddly enough, my experience has been just the opposite. The city police that I used to listen to on nx48 in the 460 MHz range eventually went encrypted.
When the system was new I would listen on a laptop mounted in my car using DSD with good results. I got a trx-1 when they first came out and it did not trunk track the two control channels on my system and had many missed transmissions, it was totally unreliable for a news media person. There is a reason you don't pay for nxdn on a whistler.
When I paid for the upgrades on my x36 radios and my SDS XXX radios the system was flawless and trunk tracted perfectly.
Maybe it's a programming issue with your unidens. You might want to put your Whistler radios next to a real police radio if you can find a friendly cooperative cop and see just how well they really are working, I used to lose entire sentences, sometimes entire calls, the Uniden up against a whistler was like night and day.
I know that doesn't help but that was my experience.
That was the city I worked in and I'm retired now and they dumped their nxdn and are encrypted on a County Wide p25 system so I actually don't use nxdn at all anymore but the keys are still in my radios.
Since my area now is all Phase ll simulcast with police encryption but fire in the clear my trx1 sits in a drawer with the batteries removed. I won't sell it though as it is a cool little radio, just doesn't work on Phase ll simulcast.
Good luck with your nxdn issues with Uniden, again it could be programming.
