Now I just have on other question I am hoping anyone on here can answer for me.

I am just wondering how do you: Enable the Sort Radios By Talkgroup feature on TRUNK88. Like what LETTER or BUTTONS do I press on TRUNK88 at the COMMAND PROMPT to access this.

I am just wondering this, so maybe this will help me out in identifying those RADIO ID's that were coming up and not getting affiliated to any TALKGROUP.

So if anyone on here can tell me. I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I will be waiting for any replies to this QUESTION. Thanks.

It depends on if you want it for all systems, or just one. Push the letter in the bracket for accessing the correct menus.

To change this for all systems, go to [D]efault, then go down about 138 lines (by pushing the down arrow). 1 means it is enabled, 0 means it is disabled.

To change this for one system, go to ystem, [E]dit, then go down about 128 lines (by pushing the down arrow). -1 uses the default, 1 means enabled, and 0 means disabled.

Hope this helps,
Chris

P.S. It would be better if this was put in the "Trunker/Etrunker/Unitrunker Decoders" forum. You will get a faster response. =)

Ok. So for changing it for one SYSTEM. After I went (S) for SYSTEM then (E) for Edit and then pressing the DOWN ARROW 128 times. Would I change the: -1 after the: Sort Radio's by TALKGROUP. Would this be the one.

Also to change it for all SYSTEMS. After I went (D) for Edit Defaults and then pressing the DOWN ARROW 138 times. Would I change the: Create Radio CSV: 0 to 1 or would I change the: Sort by Timestamp: 0 to 1 or would it be the: Sort Radios by TALKGROUP and if it is already at 1, I just leave it. Let me know.

So I will be waiting for any replies to this Question or post. Thanks again.

Yes, that is where you would change it for one system. All the -1 means is that it takes the setting from the default settings. For example, you could want to sort radios by talkgroup in one system, but not in any other system. So it would be 1 in one system, -1 in all the others.

Also to change it for all SYSTEMS. After I went (D) for Edit Defaults and then pressing the DOWN ARROW 138 times. You would use the Sort Radios by TALKGROUP option. If it is already set to 1, then your radios should already be sorted by talkgroup.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Ok. Thanks for the reply Chris.

Yup the Sort Radios by TALKGROUP is already at 1. And when I checked the .CTL file, the radios were sorted by TALKGROUP, but I am still getting RADIO ID's showing up with affiliation requests and not getting affiliated to any TALKGROUPS. There is quite a few of them so far like this.

So would this mean that these RADIO affiliation requests (the RADIO ID's I am yet to identify who they belong to) are from units from another zone or area that for some reason are trying to affiliate with our tower or site and are not getting affiliated to any of our TALKGROUPS (since they are units that are not from our area). Let me know

I will be waiting for any replies to this question. Thanks.

This question was asked and answered a week ago (12/30/2008) via email:

They are valid radio IDs. The system is just trying to locate them.

The usual culprit is a Fleetnet radio from another zone (like zone 2 or zone 4) affiliating to a zone 3 site. For example, a zone 4 radio (let's call it RID 102) operating east of Marathon can't hear the Marathon site, so it scans the band looking for another site; it hears the White River site and manages to affiliate. After listening for a few seconds, it realizes that the White River site is not part of zone 4, so it deaffiliates. Now the zone 3 controller has to find out where the zone 3 RID 102 is, so it broadcasts an affiliation request on all zone 3 sites.

I can't tell you what those radio IDs are, since they could be used anywhere in zone 3, and I can't monitor zone 3 anyway. You would have to ask other zone 3 residents who are using Trunker, TRUNK88, or Unitrunker.
