• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I work at a factory, we use radio communications

I believe we use a trunked system (99% sure)

I have a list of frequencies, but I don't know what the Control Channel is.
Is there any way I can find that out?.

I also do not know what type of Trunked system it is, anyway I can find that out for sure as well?..

I have a Pro 95 scanner

I dont know if this is the easiest way or not but one way to find out the control channel is to program them all in as conventional and the one that makes all of the wierd noises with no communications on it will be the control channel.

It they use an LTR system, there won't be any control channel. If it's LTR, there may be a very short burst of noise on the frequency every 10 seconds or so, but not all LTR systems will do this.

Are the frequencies in the 400MhZ, 500MhZ, 800MhZ or 900MhZ range ? If you could let us know, maybe we can narrow down the possibilities as to the type to see if you even need to program a control channel.

I am by no means an expert on trunked systems, but it looks like the system MIGHT be a Motorola Type 2 Smartnet. It would get programmed into your scanner as a Motorola Type 2 UHF. However you will need the Base Frequency, Offset Channel and Spacing in order to program it. There may be a way to determine what they are, but I am not familiar with it.

If you get no further responses here, you may want to post another question asking if anyone knows how you can do this. The question may have already been asked here before, I don't know. I went through a bunch of posts trying to find it for you, but didn't see anything. There are a lot of people on this board who know a ton about programming trunked systems into a scanner. I am sure someone would be able to help you.

Good Luck
Ken
