Has Whistler done anything about the squelch on the TRX-2? I have a Uniden 996 and a 1095 using the same antenna and the 996 beats the 1095 only because I have to keep the 1095 squelch set so high to keep it from staying open after a transmission, a hysteresis issue.

The Uniden can pick up a signal on all the weather frequencies and some from Canada on 161mhz but due to having to keep the squelch set so high on the 1095 it can get 3 and I know I miss out on a lot of transmissions on VHF-hi, UHF,
and 800 due to this also.

It's not anything interfering with the 1095 causing me to keep the squelch set so high.

Thanks.

I have been listening to a lot of ham stuff on all bands, and especially a lot of low band skip with the squelch set on the minimum threshold setting of 9. No problem with scanning all that with minimum threshold of 9. I can hear right into the noise, but if the signal gets too noisy the squelch closes. And it scans fine that way. I find 10 works better if you just want intelligible voice. My WS1080 and PSR-800 would not do that, and would open on nothing all the time. Maybe that was part of the overload problem with the older design, but no problem with the TRX. Works great! :)

So yes, they also fixed the squelch problem on the TRX series.

Thanks SOFA_KING. I was looking for real life experience. My experience calling any customer support and they tell you what you want to hear.
