Friday (03 October) the TSA folks at Blue Grass Airport (KLEX) were doing something.... There were Terminal (Tango, they called themselves) Units checking the parking garage and freight terminal... there were two other teams boarding at least one aircraft (FLG5888) at Gate B-3... they were talking about another aircraft they were going to sweep, but didn't catch the particulars.... This all started around 1030 and ended about 1145, they were on 172.9000 (001 NAC). Prior to this I have monitored them occasionally on the various posted TSA freqs, but this is the first time there has been this much chatter for this length of time.... and it almost sounded as if they were being evaluated given the terseness of their transmissions...

Thinking of another post a while back now you have me wondering how many antennas they ripped off this time thinking they were hand holds.

Could have been a drill... but isn't it time for the "high rollers" to come into Keeneland.
Sound like they were tipped off to something.

Never heard them sweeping a plane before--this was a Mesaba (Northwest Airlink) out of Detroit... usually the high-rollers arrive in their own or chartered aircraft for the horsey stuff.... I've just never heard so much chatter on any of their freqs since they set-up shop at KLEX, it was almost like listening to the improbable script for a Hollyweird taping or something....

maybe they finally got their new radios and wanted to play. ;)
That is such a hotbed of activity airport. ;)

I'll have to plug in SDF frequencies and see if that's happening over here.

Monitored TSA on 172.9000 002NAC as well.... can't make enough of the individual voices to figure out if the two NACs are being used as "talk groups" or not.... will be able to listen more intently tomorrow.....

Could it be the aiports anuall FAA evaluations? I know Port columbus just had theirs in SEPT. And radio traffic was crazy and did not sound anything like normal traffic

That sounds like a good explanation, I have been able to monitor most of this week and was in the terminal earlier in the week and all the TSA folks were dressed to the nines.... and the checkpoint looked like the Blue Light Special aisle at KMart.... They have "swept" a couple of aircraft since last Thursday (that I have heard, anyway) and done a number of things that sound more like validation/inspection/evaluation stuff.....
