Last night, I heard Tucson PD Bravo units advising to switch to their encrypted channel. It seemed related to a specific case, but I'm not sure if they will just stay encrypted or not.

I have heard a few rare sporadic encryption chirps across most of the TPD talk groups for about 2 months now....At this point I do not believe that they will go to full encryption across all of the talk groups.....They seem to pick & choose when they want to do it.....I have not heard of any transmissions that specifically mention a " Dedicated Encryption Channel ".

I believe so as... the Unit I.D's on the encrypted transmissions are always from a unit in the field & not from the dispatch side.

Bad news. According to the minutes of the March 2025 meeting of the Pima County Wireless Network the Tucson Police Department is going encrypted the summer of 2025 on their primary talk groups. They are going to work with the other agencies on dealing with their encrypted radios.

They've said this for years.
