I think the keyword here is option. Probably this is controlled by the system admins or from the consoles at the PD & FD, but those more knowledgeable than me would have to say how that works. I have no doubt that should an incident such as the Murrah Building bombing occur in Tulsa (God Forbid!), we would be hearing all sorts of select TPD/FD talkgroups on the southern SmartZone sites.
Some (all?) of the units during the last upgrade they added a new talkgroup. It has one tulsa talkgroup and the rest is ohp OKC and turner.
Whose units? TPD? Troop B? Please, share what you can.
It must be tied to the state system because you can talk from well west and south of okc back to Tulsa
Tulsa PD? Or Troop B?
You can also talk to ohp in Okc from tulsa.
As for talking back to Troop A from Tulsa, if the system is configured properly, then any OHP unit with an 800 radio (and the proper talkgroups programmed) should be able to talk to any troop HQ in the state that has 800 MHz capability. That's the whole point of having a state-wide (eventually) system.
Not questioning what you're saying, I'm just trying to get as many details as possible. Stillwater's 800 MHz tower is/was supposed to be funded through a grant this year, and I want to know as much as I can about it's capabilities if/when it comes on the air. I'm not holding my breath, mind you, but I do have the listed freqs programmed into my daily use bank, hoping to hear something!
Keep those cards & letters coming in folks!
