Hi All,

I would like two combine the RF of two different antennas into one TV splitter and then combine that RF into a second TV splitter to feed the two radio's.

What are the problems? Any better way to get this done?

Thanks in advance for your input to my output.

Just connect the single connectors back to back with about 2" of coax. You should be in a strong signal area to start with. Otherwise you may notice signal loss. Good Luck.

Just curious, why would you want to do this? Why not just hook one antenna to one radio and the other antenna to the other radio. You are going to lose a lot of signal if you do it your way.

Hi Space and all,

For what purpose? You tell us nothing about the antennas or what bands you're monitoring, clear as mud. On the face of it you're defeating your purpose but without more information nobody knows what that purpose may be.

All,

OK, this is what I would like to do....

Radio 1, BC396
Radio 2, BC250

Antenna 1, Discone with RS inline mast mounted amp [don't have #, cost +/- $30.00]
With 7/8 inch hard line @ 75 ohms
Antenna 2, Yagi 406-420 MHz ---> for weak signal RX.

1. Would like to use the Discone on both radio's for general receiving.
2. Would like to use Yagi mainly with the 396. Why, P25 9600 baud trunking, only with the
396. But also at the same time use the Discone for "other bands" of interest during
scanning with the 396.

I understand there will be signal loss, trying not to connect and dis-connect antenna cables
based on frequency limits, if possible.

Hope this updates everyone to my wishes [???], it may not be possible.....

Thank you for your comments and interest.

I think if you used a duplexer and then a muticoupler you might be able to do it.

I believe you will have a hard time finding a wide frequency range duplexer though.

The duplexer would combine two antennas into one line then the muticoupler would take this one line and allow you to feed several scanners.

Am I right guys?

Hi again Space and all,

Oh boy, you really want to do it the hard way. Since you're only using one scanner and one antenna each and the Yagi to pull in distant stations on one band just leave it at that. Use the other scanner on the discone for everything else. Now if I remember the BC-250 right it has 10 banks of 10 channels each and uses the receiver board from the BC-101, one really hot receiver. I measured 0.25uV for 20dB quieting on UHF, 0.1uV on VHF with a Cushman Station Monitor. That's what I would use on the Yagi, mixing everything up you're asking for all kinds of trouble.

MB, right, sort of. I diplexer (not a duplexer for the hundredth time) employs two filters back to back, a high pass and a low pass. With 406-420 right in the middle of everything he would need a much more complex filter arrangement, high pass, low pass and bandpass with a very strange hookup, not your ordinary triplexer. I think our famous Doctor Frankenstein would recomend separate antennas on separate scanners as I have and now you know what they call me at Altec Communications if you have been following my clues.

All in all I would rather KISS than have the monkey spank me.
