Well thats 2 more crappy radios to add to their list... I guess they really don't listen to what people want.

I agree with Dubbin. While I don't speak for everyone, and don't pretend to, RS already has a whole line of basic scanners. Why add 2 more? What's the real point? Sure they'll sell. Heck, I am sure the $700 BCD396T will be bought by someone off of RS.com or the $300 BR330T and BC246T. You can sell about anything if you advertise it to people who don't know any better. They are ripping off the un educated. True they should do their research, but some old lady who wants to know why the police keep coming to the neighbors house goes to RS and wants to buy a scanner and they'll talk her into the highest priced one they have. Not all RS will do that, but most will.

I am sure either unit will be a decent scanner. Some will likely buy them just for secondary scanners or a cheap starter, which is fine. But for a die hard scanner user, the lack of text turns my interests off. I bought a Pro-2051, and hated the fact that I had no text for 1000 channels and several TGIDs. I have vowed not to buy anything that doesn't have text. It is a must for me.

In fact, i am about to swear off banks and channels. I hope to add the BCT15 and BR330T to my "shack" as soon as the money from radio sells hits my account. If the BCT15 performs well enough, I might sell the 2055 and replace it with another BCT15. Why? Dynamic Memory. It has ruined me. There is just too many options that it gives you. I love it!

But again, I don't speak for everyone. Just me.

Manuals?

Because so many people have complained about the complexity of programming text tags and all the other flashy, whiz-bang features of the recently released scanners. Such people want simpler options. If they want text tags and all the other showiness, they'd buy what is ALREADY on the market.

People will want these scanners because of their simplicity. Simplicity is a perfect reason to market them.

Most of the complaints I hear and read on the complexity of the scanners are that the manuals are poorly written. For someone new to scanners and then to all the features of some of the newer scanners the manuals can be hard to follow. The directions take you 2 or 3 steps through a process and, then send you to another section for step 4. Then after all that you go to another or even back to the first section for step 5.

That's my opinion.

Ex-wives and scanners. That's a good topic for another thread.

These two new RS scanners will be a waist. Waist defined as recycled technology with limitations and precious counter space for RS dealers.

In my opinion these two scanners, RS-433 and 528, were released for the sake of releasing a new scanner. It's not the kind of marketing consumers like to see. But, if twisted and turned ... a CEO will enjoy hearing the new line ups.

Meanwhile ... Uniden BR330T and BC15T gain interest and sales among new and seasoned scanner consumers.

The way I understand it, a TRUE P25 ( 9600bps ) system will not affect the scanner. Only having to re program the frequencies that were moved.

Other systems (non P25) will have their trunking tables re arranged, causing scanners not to work.
