Here we go again. Snow Armageddon (sp?) for Texas.

WHAT are the Texas DOT freqs? I have all of them loaded into my SDS200 (monitoring station NW corner of DFW metro) with a mag mount antenna in my upstairs windowsill (I should be getting commercial grade FM repeaters easily from my location).

I don't hear ANYHING for last couple days.

Thank you

Haven't heard much myself, although I know some of the frequencies are active throughout the rest of the year. They are usually pretty weak and I only hear them when they are relatively close to me. Really not much to say when you're just driving the highways dropping brine. I would expect activity to pick up when the sand trucks start rolling, they usually report how many yards they have spread, and get directed to the hot spots. Really the only frequency I've heard any traffic on is 156.195 they mentioned FM 916 and IH 35W in southern Johnson County.

For the TxDOT DMR frequencies, should they be programmed as conventional or OFT?

I program them as "OFT", and also set as "ID Search" in case they are using the same frequency for more than one purpose. That way, if there is more than one TGID used, I'll see both, and if desired, lock out any (if there is one) that is of no interest.

So far, I have not seen multiple TGIDs on the same frequency, but I don't usually monitor TxDOT except when we have weather like we will this weekend.

The statewide simplex channels in the database have the wrong NAC for P25 mode.

151.025 PL 100.0 TXDOT 1
151.025 NAC 293 TXDOT 5
151.055 PL 100.0 TXDOT 2
151.055 NAC 293 TXDOT 6
151.085 PL 100.0 TXDOT 3
151.085 NAC 293 TXDOT 7
156.135 PL 100.0 TXDOT 4
156.135 NAC 293 TXDOT 8

It sould be 293 not F7F. (F7E and F7F are special cases that apparently don't work in scanners. See the wiki article.)

If you have a scanner you should probably set the tone and NAC to 'search' in case they are using different tone/NAC in different districts. Also remember that many areas have other licensees besides TXDOT on those frequencies.

This is City of Dallas or Dallas County, correct? Not "State of Texas DOT" ?
That's City of Dallas, not Dallas County nor the state. I suspect that if one of the Dallas (city) field units found a patch of road, such as I35-E, needing sanding, they would refer that to TxDOT, since that roadway is not maintained by the city. Probably the same referral if the problem road was one maintained by Dallas County, not the city.

I have all the freqs for TxDOT plugged into my SDS200, statewide, Lufkin, Bryan, Houston, Beaumont, and TxWARN, and haven't heard a thing since yesterday afternoon since I started monitoring them. Surprised I hadn't heard anything out of Huntsville with 45 going thru there. Or from the Lufkin area with 59 cutting thru my local counties.

Maybe using cell phones instead?

I'm getting a lot of traffic on the Dallas site this morning. Ops on 20, 35, 635, and 45 that I've heard coming in and out.
