• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello

I purchased a TYT MD 9000 a couple of months ago cause I wanted access to a few local 220 repeaters and also for ragchewing with local hams on simplex. The radio is an analog 220. One problem is no matter what I have tried I cannot get the radio to scan. Does anyone with this radio have same issue? Also the RX audio is pretty lousey. However TX audio is very good. I use external speaker which helps somewhat. I was going to buy the Alinco mobile 200 mhz radio but wanted to save a little money, but you get what you pay for.

Are you programming via front panel or TYT software? What have you tried to do to start scanning? The default "key" to start scanning is "long press" key (front panel button) P3. That can be changed via software, and a channel can be skipped

I have the same radio and agree the RX audio is an issue. I have learned to just deal with it for now.

I cant get the TYT software to communicate with radio....keep getting error "check connection, retry, cancel" It shows correct port but baud rate 9600 in the device manager and it does show COM 11 being used. Under universal serial bus controllers it showing "USB-29A radio cable"
greyed out. Very frustrating!!!! I was able to do some programming via radio itself.

Yes, USB is very finicky at times. My USB cable for the TH-9000D is listed as "USB-SERIAL CH340", also on port 11.

""USB-29A radio cable" greyed out."

Is "Show hidden devices" selected in the Device Manager's View list?

USB-29A is an RT Systems USB cable. Are you trying to use RT's software to program the radio? If so, they should help you out with your USB/Programming issue.

Just to make sure, is your radio the TYT TH-9000D mono band?

Yes radio is mono band 220 mhz. I noticed when I click "Model" the wrong freqs are entered, but you can change them. I changed them to the proper 220 freqs that show in the pop up box. Show hidden devices is selected. The software I am using is the TYT TH900D that I downloaded from Either Buy two way radios or Radioddity, I cant remember. I am sure that greyed out USB-29A has something to do with the problem. So at this point I am outta luck!

UPDATE:::: I actually was able to use the USB 29A cable that I use for my ICOM IC2730 uhf/vhf analog radio. The cable that came with the TYT 9000D is no good. So problem solved. I hope by using software I can get the radio to scan.

If you're talking about the TYT-9000 radios, I just checked several sites and all indicate the 9000 is a single-band radio... either 2m -or- 220MHz (technically, both are VHF).
