It has been more than a few years since I have owned a UBCD396T, I have recently got one. A couple of things I am not about.

1. Can you have the frequency displayed as well as the alpha tag?
2. When using FreeScan to program this, I am creating a custom search range of 462.000MHz to 512.000MHz, when uploading to the UBCD396T, this is coming across as 462.000MHz to 469.9875MHz. I have to manually change it on the scanner itself, I don't recall this being an issue in the past, with my original one.

Question #1-
Yes. When you program tha alpha tag just continue adding the frequency. But there are only a certain amount allowed for characters (which can be either alpha or numeric. So you may need to truncate the alpha tag to allow the additional numeric characters for the frequency.

Question #2-
Sorry, can’t help on this one.

Good Morning from Nova Scotia

Re; Question 1 - Display
Line 1 - System name
Line 2 - Group name
Line 3 - Frequency and/or talkgroup id depending on setting(*)
Line 4 - System numbers
Line 5 - Group numbers

Re: Question 2
UHF 400-512 (narrow fm) The default step setting for your scanner is 6.25kHz. So it is functioning normally. You may be able change that by editing the custom search. (*)

(*) If you don't have your owners manual, try "Mark's Scanners"
he has several manual available. In an easier to follow formal than the book does.

Hope that helps, I've a 996T similar programming.

Another question. Will the 396T "read" the control channel on a P25 Phase 2 system? I am seeing talkgroup IDs and site information pop up.
