UHF-TV and Close Call

Love my new 246. :lol: Just got back from Wichata Falls TX by way of Indianapolis and Chicago Airports. Used Close Call all the way down and back. Didn't miss a single word. Works as expected inside the aircraft(when allowed). Some overload from the onboard radios, but everything nearby was captured. Now that I'm back home, I've been looking for a way to block out TV Channel 18 (494 and 500 MHz). I'm 30 miles from the transmitter, 50Kw Aural and Video. Using close call is a pain. Is there a way to block any T-band (470 to 512 MHz) and not miss any of the other fine hits? I've put the custom scan to great use, as you can chain the search with a open space where the TV Channel is located. This worked well in W. Falls with several UHF stations nearby. But I really want to use my Close Call without locking out up to 200 hits from 493 to 501 MHz.

I've had the same problem here, near Lexington, KY which also has a channel 18. I'm about 10 miles away from the TV tower, and get Close Call hits up in the 490 MHz range constantly. I've locked them out as I get them and have pretty much gotten all of them I believe--about 50 frequencies locked out in all.

Maybe Uniden could separate the T-band from normal UHF so you can disable the entire T-band. I take it there are no T-band users in your area. There are users in two segments in my area, and I also get hits from some UHF TV stations.

I was just thinking :shock: . If you put all the TV Freqs you don't want to listen to into a System File, could you lock them out is some way that the Close Call feature would skip them? :idea: I'm still reading the manual on this one. So far the lockout as you capture them is working.

exact same issue here with TV-17.. it keeps locking on the video freq (489.25).. the biggest pain is that it will constantly lock on freqs AROUND that actual freq (489.1875, 489.2125 etc)

i wish they had done the same and allowed it to turn off T-band..

You could construct a quick coaxial filter. I did a very quick google for ya and found this:

I'll work on this. ITMT i've programmed the Channel out in my Custom and search with customs chained.

I have the same problem with a UHF TV Station neardy. It took me 47 search lockouts to avoid the channel during Close Call. The T-Band lockout would be a nice addition. Maybe this could be done with a firmware update.

Same problem for the pro83. In Tucson we have a very powerfull aggrivation called channel 18 (WB :roll: ). Uniden messed up.
