Hi:

On several occasions I have noticed that my state & county turn green to indicate updates w/ in the past 24 hours. However, as I scroll through my state/county/city, there are no freqs. green indicating a change has taken place.

What gives?

Thanks.

This topic has been discussed many times. Click on your country (or the county that interests you). Once in that county, look up toward the right side under the ribbon bar. You should see something like this:
Last Updated: June 7, 2019, 9:11 am

Hover over the date and it will give you a summary of changes. Click on the link and it will show you the entire list of changes over time.

Keep in mind that some changes are housekeeping tasks that happen behind the scenes by the database admins and won't result in actual new frequency or talkgroup data.

With the exception of two counties the entire lower peninsula of Michigan has been green for a couple of days. Not sure why.

Simple enough to figure out, no mystery to it. Click on a few of those counties and look at the latest updates, which all point to that trunked system. Click on a few counties that weren't lit up and notice that there is no mention of that trunked system.

That doesn't appear to be the case.

Yeah, it does. Consumers Energy system is assigned to 66 counties in Michigan. Want to take a guess how many counties are currently lit up green?

Ok I see that now. In all the years I've been on RR I've never seen that happen before! It's a little confusing because other utilitie like DTE are on MPSCS and do not have their own individual trunked system.

Thanks for the explanation. I made a joke yesterday about it being related to Mountain Dew's screw-up where they thought the U.P. was part of Wisconsin...but apparently no one thought it was funny and it got deleted.

No worries. In the future, just click on the county then go to the Downloads and Reports tab. That will show the latest updates that affected that county. In this case, if you randomly check a few of the lit up counties vs the ones not lit up, you'll quickly discover the common theme is the Consumers Energy system.

Thanks again! I use the database a lot and before I retired I worked in IT for many years and with databases. I appreciate all the work that's involved and the excellent job you do!

I tried to research this to avoid duplication, but didn't find an answer specifically. I understand how to click on the county of interest to get the latest update information, but my question is if you update the database, and there are frequency changes to your county, specifically ones in your favorites list, do your favorites get updated too if there is a change, or must you reprogram them if you want the updates to apply?

Fortunately, database updates do not overwrite your favorites lists. You can update those manually using the favorites list editor.
