Correct!!!! I have the 4 sets of Tones for my Town; I want the pager to be quiet unless our Department is alerted.

Another question: I know Uniden Scanners cannot SCAN while in a Tone Out Standby, can the Unication do that? If I'm bored, can I scan the WC Alerting TG and all of the Tac channels simultaneously?

I assume you mean to set it to tone out for a certain station?

I just remembered that my Police Department is on this P25 group and did NOT encrypt like the other agencies, so I can add them in as well! So it wouldn't just be a fire pager, I could also listen to local PD.

Yes, you can have the unit in both a "standby" mode and a "monitor" mode.

For both monitor and standby: you'll want to go into D5 to add to the tone set for each department under P25T Sub-Group (2-Tone Phase 1) (photo attached, please excuse my horrible photoshop skills)

For standby only: Set the binding feature to sub-group feature (images attached) and you can have it reset on a timer or you reset it on your own. Once you add whatever channels you'd like (I only run GC Fire Dispatch) you go to the Sub-Group Setting and press "edit" on the channel that tones out the departments (I assume that'll be alarm for y'all) and just select the tone set(s) you want to be alerted on

Adding Monitor in another post

For Monitor mode: you'll want to repeat the position's binding feature to sub-group but set the reset mode to Auto Reset. When you add all your groups in, you go to sub-group settings and select the department tone sets you want. IMPORTANT: Make sure you select the little checkbox on the top of the page for "Alternatives" and after that, you'll be scanning alarm, dispatch, and ops channels while also being able to get alerts on your selected departments

Excellent @jake_Braker ! Thank you!!! Being able to SCAN while still being able to be alerted is a feature that would really benefit the extra cost of this pager. I could then actually carry the Unication around off duty and still listen to fire AND police instead of carrying my APX all over the place!

One thing I love about the pager, I can have it hidden so it's not standing out like a professional radio or scanner and I can connect an old pair of Galaxy Buds I have though bluetooth and be able to listen all I want without anyone else hearing what's going on. If you ever need help with anything, feel free to send me a PM or make a post on the forums and I'll reply the fastest I can!

Yes, since all of the TG's are in the same Wake County P25 system, they all "supposedly" can be in the same zone in the unification. Still have to do a lot of research before buying this $600 unit, but my son should just have to turn one knob and be able to get to the PSTAC channels.

You can mix systems in a Zone, just not on a channel. One suggestion (since u r CAM) is Cary Site 1 on one channel, Wake on another, and split the PSTAC/FIRE OPS between the other 6 channels (10 TGs each). When traffic is on a particular TG you can easily switch to the channel and hold on the active TG with just a push of a button.

If you ever need help with anything, feel free to send me a PM or make a post on the forums and I'll reply the fastest I can!

Like @jake_Braker said, I'm also available and local if you need anything.

This is the one feature I love and use most of the time when I'm out and about.

Per previous posts, I use a small wearable BT speaker to enhance the pagers sound. I attach the tiny speaker to my shirt and closer to my ears while keeping the receivers volume down to @10-20 . I can easily hear the pagers traffic while I run , walk and or bike. Lowering the pagers volume has also an added benefits of longer battery life. My Air Pod Pro have easily paired with my G5.

Okay……so I just bought a 436 from Amazon because we were supposed to travel to NY and it was going to be the easiest thing to use, and knowing I could return it if I wasn’t happy….I’m finding the audio from that speaker isn’t the best, I assume the speaker in the Unication is better?

@jake_Braker this is probably how I would set it up as well. Wake County Alerting and the 19 Public Safety TAC TG's all in the same list (and I only need one list at the time, the rest will be monitored from my work portable). BUT, can you set the pager to be able to turn a knob and switch list members to the affected TAC Channel? I'm not looking to SCAN as much as I'm looking for it to stay on the Alerting Channel, add in the Quick Call Tones, and then move the radio to the affected PS TAC channel.

I wasn't looking to scan because I don't want to hear all of the active Tac Channels that may or may not be operating; I just want to listen to the assigned Tac channel like I do now in my portable.
If that's the case then go Unication for sure

Got my G 5…… it’s awesome. Anyone know what this could be though? It’s bleeding over into a zone that I only have one TG programmed.

I'll bet you have that knob position as TRUNKING TG Monitor rather than TRUNKING TG scan. That TG is RPD Northwest Dispatch.

No, I checked that...... any other suggestions? I just added HS OPS 1 in case that helps.

Do you have JUST site two in the system? If not delete site one and try again. Not sure it matters but it might help, looks like it is set up correctly.

Is that other TG still popping up? Sometimes I will get a TG pop up when I first change knob position but then it corrects itself.

But there shouldn't be anything wrong with the setup.
