I am new to Uniden 436 scanner , having previously used Radio Shack products for scanning for over 30 years. The question is in regards to selective ID only scanning in a Trunking favorites group. I created the trunking favorites bank with frequencies and ID tags and descriptions using Sentinel and they all transferred to the scanner , but I can only here traffic in the ID Search mode. Not sure how to scan only the desired created ID tags only in the trunking sysyem and not hear all the other non related ID tags.
Many Thanks!!

Make sure that you have the desired Service Types active. When shipped, as well as when you first install Sentinel, only the Dispatch service types are enabled for Public Safety: Law Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, EMS Dispatch, and Multi Dispatch. You also need to enable the Tac and Talk service types for these: Law Talk, Fire Tac, EMS Tac, etc,

If you have your Favorites list programmed correctly, and the correct Service Types enabled, but are not hearing anything unless in ID Search mode, then it appears that your scanner is not "seeing" those programmed talkgroups. If you are using Quick Keys, be sure that those keys are enabled.

When working correctly, ID Scan only scans those TGIDs that are programmed, and are not set as Avoid individually, and are not in a Department that is set as 'Avoid'.

ID Search stops on any active TGID that is not (a.) set as avoid, and (b.) not in a Department set as Avoid.

If you like, export your Favorites list into an *.hpe file. (That option is under the drop-down File menu in Sentinel.) Note where it is saved on your PC. Using Windows Explorer (called File Explorer in Windows 10), find the exported file & <right><click> on it. From the menu that pops up, select "Send to", then choose the option to send it to a compressed (zipped) folder. Youcan then attach the sipped file to a post & any number of us can take a peek to see if something is amiss.

Unless they are avoided, you should hear the TGID's you have programmed in ID Scan. What is your city, county, and state, and which systems and agencies do you wish to monitor. If you export and attach your favorites list, we will check it for problems. Which service types do you have enabled?

OK, I see what your problem is.

You have all of your programmed talkgroups under the Unit IDs settings, not under the Department (for Fire). The Unit IDs would only be used if you can discern which ID (actually, it's the ID for the radio itself, not a specific piece of equipment) matches what unit. If, to make up an example, let's say that the station close to you is "Station 4", and the engine company assigned there uses a radio with an ID of "12345". If you have the talkgroup programmed correctly, in addition to the Unit IDs, then you'd see 'Engine 4' as transmitting when on the fire dispatch channel.

Attached is your revised file. I moved the talkgroups from the Unit ID section to the Fire department, which is where they should be. I have edited a couple of the text tags to more closely match what is in the database, as well as setting the service types to match what is in the database. Some of the talkgroups are under Hospital or Interop. Be sure those are enabled in your profile.

There's an Easier to Read manual for your scanner, as well as one more specifically for using Sentinel.

See the Wiki page, with a number of links to more information:
BCD436HP and BCD536HP Scanner FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

And, there are a number of videos on YouTube. Enjoy the scanner.
