My recent purchase of the SDS 200 has me in a bit of a quandary. I have many VHF fire frequencies on my 996t that I would like to transfer to my SDS 200. Is there a simple, easy-to-follow, step-by-step way for this tech-challenged owner to "copy and paste" my 996t frequencies over to my SDS 200? I'd rather not have to manually enter the data, one by one(!)

Many thanks for taking the time to respond!

Also the SDS 200 series uses Service Types which the 996 does not. So there will be fields to populate.

ARC software and I'd imagine ProScan, has tools to convert the 996 files to 200 files. When I first got my x36 (same architecture as the SDS line) I tried the conversion tool and was less than impressed. I just bit the bullet and re-built my "stuff". A little time consuming, but I found some updates I had been missing, so that was a plus.

If you have side by side monitors, you can open both scanner software programs and do a side by side comparison one you build your Favorites Lists. Minor copying and pasting between the two is possible that way.

For my 396 & BCT15X files I used Proscan & export as Sentinel HPE file.
Then use Sentinel to load into my SDS200E.
Worked for me.

Isn't the freqs you want in RR's database?
If so, (which I'd assume the are), why not just build favorite lists from there via Sentinel?
That way, you get the location info as well.

This. There's also Service Type and other data you'd have to manually fill in importing old scan lists. It's probably not worth the effort, especially since the stuff in RR/Sentinel is probably more current.

In Europe we can't use the RR database. So have to rely on verified info or use info from our older radio's.
Importing then editing as required beats building a config from scratch.

There are several ways, much depends on what software you have available and your personal ability with said software.

phask et.al.,

A friend has sent me his hpd file, but I have not been able to open it to utilize the data therein. From his email, I click on his link in his email, download the hpd, the prompt: "Do you want to open or save this file?", I click OPEN, then the Internet Explorer promp ["the website wants to open web content...], when I click ALLOW, it reverts me back to the hpd file 2 PNC snip. Over and over with the same results. Is there something that I'm missing or doing wrong? TIA

Save the file, then import it from the Sentinel menu. You can't open the file directly like that.

jon,

I have saved the file, opened my Sentinel, went to FILE/Import from hpe file [Favorites List] in Sentinel, click OK on "Select Favorites List", but the file does not show up in the Downloads folder. ???

Check to see where you saved it. It's possible to save a file in any folder, not just Downloads.

I've saved the file on my D drive, as you can see from the snip. However, when I go to Sentinel, to FILE/Import from hpe file [Favorites List] in Sentinel, click OK on "Select Favorites List", the file does not show up.

Notice that in BOTH snips the file address is the same. The "Capture.PNG" snip shows the file as downloaded but the other, the Sentinel snip shows, "no items match your search". Same folder, one shows it the other does not. ???
