Uniden 996XT 3.0 firmware

I bought a new BCD996XT scanner from amazon a few weeks ago. I am trying to update it to version 3.0. Is this something I have to pay an additional fee to do. I registered it on MyUniden, but I see mention of if i am trying to update to version 3.0 I need a registration key.

It sounds like you are trying to install 996T v3.0 firmware on your 996XT. The "T" firmware won't work on an "XT". The latest version for the 996XT is 1.07.03. (fixed my error)

Actually, the latest update to the BCD996XT is 1.07.03. There is no need to register the scanner nor to get a key to get the latest firmware. Simply follow the steps at BCD996XTFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

ah, that is my problem, my bad, i didn't see the XT listed on the page so i assumed they were both groups under 996T.

I have registered at my uniden and the notification says that the web administrator will review my sign up request and email me a scanner key so I can access the firmware. However there has been no contact from Uniden.Is there any way to obtain this key?

No such message on the site. Just register your scanner and click "Get Key" link next to the registered scanner.
