ok this is one thats been stumping me for a while, Someone gave me an older BC-200xlt that was apperently modified, however every time I try to clear the frequencies out (by entering 000.000) It says ERROR. And when I try to do a search it also says error..... anyone on here know much about the radios? In my oppinion I think that whoever modified it (If they did) may have removed the wrong jumper. If anyone has encounterd this problem before and has a resolution for it please let me know. :?: :!:

It may not take 000.000 as an entry.

Did you program a search range befire hitting search? (FREQ - LIMIT FREQ - LIMIT - SEARCH)

Even my PRO-96 won't take 000.000 as a frequency entry in the channels it's displaying 000.0000 as the frequency.

On the BC200XLT, I think I cleared mine using 30.000 <E>

To do the mod you snip a resistor or something like that inside the radio. There are no jumpers to remove. If the guy you bought it from snipped the wrong one you may be SOL. I would not even dream about messing up a decent scanner like that to do something illegal.

I have owned a couple of BC 200 scanners over the years. What you are experiencing is a design issue. It was made that way. The only way to get rid of an unwanted frequency is to completely reset the scanner or to overwrite the channel with something new. It's a fine conventional scanner other than that quirk.

BC200

I will have to correct myself here, the radio infact has not been altered in any way, I took it apart the other night and inspected it. I am not so much interested in geting the scaner to recieve cell band as much as I would like to monitor the 300mhz millitary band. I know only certain scanners have that capability but I am not sure if the BC200 will do so, I will check out the mods.dk site though and see if there is anything on there about the mods. But if anyone on here knowes if it will recieve that or knowes a scanner that will I am open for suggestions. If not I may have to just get on Ebay and find an HT that is capable of recieving such band, I know the Kenwood TH-79 will do it with the proper mod

I have never been able to find a Mil Air band mod for it. If you do find one please let me know. The mod I was talking about for cells involves snipping a diode on the citcuit board. If I remember correctly when you open the back of the radio there are 3 little square diodes in a row. Those are the one in question. I talked to an electronics nerd (with all due respect to his talent) buddy and he didn't reccommend messing with any of them w/o the plans for the radio. BTW I used the
