BC125AT: Uniden BC125AT / CTCSS

Hello all, I am tying to figure out what the correct CTCSS/DCS inputs are for my scanner, I am using the BC125AT_SS software to load in the frequencies and such, I have used this software before in the past and never had an issue, but I cant remember where I found the correct CTCSS/DCS inputs

I am in the Buffalo NY area and are trying to scan the police and EMS frequencies, will I also need MODULATION, LOCKOUT and PRIORITY inputs as
well?

All I have configured now is the actual frequencies, but when I have it scan, it just makes an annoying noise when it hits an actual call.

if you look at the database and see P25 as the mode, the 125 will NOT be able to hear it correctly as that means digital.
DMR and NXDN is other forms of digital.

Thanks for the reply, yes I see P25 as the mode, I also see FMN on many as well.

So perhaps I need to upgrade my scanner, Do you have any recommendations on a budget scanner that will work with P25 modes?

you can get the FMN ones, that is just a more narrow form of FM then was used years ago.
so you could take the ones out that you can't hear and there might be other frequencies that you could want to listen to.
i have 5 older analog only scanners that i use to listen to analog stuff like FRS/GMRS/MURS air, military air, ham, business, DEA, FBI,
space station and other stuff.
rule of thumb for scanners.
analog, $100
digital, $200+
P-25 phase 2 $600+

Good stuff, I really appreciate your time, I will remove the the ones I cant hear and just add the FMN, I will also look into purchasing an updated scanner

Just a quick note on FMN, which stands for FM instead of AM. The N designation means “Narrow”, as opposed to “Wide” and relates to deviation.

The commercial aviation band uses AM with no PL’s, Digital PL’s… none at all. And, correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe the aviation band went from FM wide to FMN.

The FCC, in an effort to squeeze more channels into the spectrum, reduced the amount of deviation from 25 to 12.5, thereby doubling the amount of channels they had available for assignment. However, this does not apply to all services… the amateur radio bands, aviation bands were allowed to remain at 25. So, the FM bands are not simply designated as FM anymore… instead, it’s FMN and FMW.

The use of CTCSS/DCS is really only to filter out traffic that is not using these transmission codes.

By not programming a CTSS/DCS value then your scanner will wakeup/react to all transmissions on the given frequency.

As suggested by others you may be on digital only so the BC125AT will not respond.

Thanks for the reply, I am thinking of purchasing another scanner that will respond to digital, Just something I use around the house, I need to research the different makes and models.

Hello, I updated my Uniden BC125AT and I can no longer hear any frequencies. Help!
