A rookie here.

I finally updated the firmware, after somehow, successfully installing the virtual comport driver and getting the PC to see the scanner.

That said, what this other software that’s on the Uniden site for the 260DN?

I’ll be checking out Arc260 shortly, but was just wondering.

ARC260 is one option. Proscan also supports the BCD260DN. They both offer 30 day trials so my suggestion would be to try them both and buy the one you like.

i decided after hearing about ProScan regularly that i should give it a try and one thing i noticed quickly is that it retains and displays station and device IDs on my SDS100 that i can't figure out how to present on the display of the scanner. I may as well try Arc as well!

There is software on the Uniden Site for the BCD160DN / BCD260DN its not great but it is free but I use PROSCAN it works with every Uniden Scanner I have BC185D to SDS200 no extra fees and has a ton of bells and whistles built in.
