Hey all,

I have a BCD325P2 that multiple computers will not recognize. I plug in the USB cable to the computer and scanner and in the device manager it is recognized as uniden programming with an associated com port, but in freescan it will not recognize the scanner or communicate with it. The auto com port feature finds nothing. Sometimes it won't even allow me to select the com port in freescan that is listed in the device manager, other times it can be selected but won't communicate with the scanner. I have changed and reset every setting that I can think of, I have done multiple hard resets of the scanner and restarted the computer before trying. Nothing works! It's as if the scanner just doesn't exist. I still use it for the occasional hand programmed stuff but would like to put in the actual scanner setup again.

Has anyone else had any issue like this and know what to do or have any suggestions as to what may be wrong? I'm at a loss at this point.

Did you install the driver for the scanner? In FreeSCAN. go to the Scanner tab, Control Scanner, COM Port Setup, and Start Auto. If you get the box that no available comports were detected, close the box and Start Auto.

Depends on the computer, one has it on com 3 and one on com 17.

I forgot to mention at the outset that I have previously programmed this scanner with both computers with no issues in the past. Not sure why all of a sudden it won't be recognized.

Any chance that a recent Windows update might have overwritten the serial port diver? I'd download & reinstall the driver, just to rule that out.

Some programs only recognize lower numbered com ports. If it worked before, I would presume that isn't an issue. With windows habit of tons of "fixes", I would suggest removing (via device manager) the com port. Then unplug the 325 then after a few seconds, plug the 325 back in and see if Windows finds it again. If Windows doesn't find it, then your cable and/or 325 port and/or the internal circuitry.
