Hi Tyler,
The easiest way to do what you want is to first delete the preprogrammed systems from your scanner by clearing the scanner's memory. To do this; turn the scanner on while simultaneously pressing the "2" + "9" + "HOLD" buttons; when prompted to restore preprogrammed systems, select 'no'.
Now that your scanner's memory is clear (nothing to scan), you can program what you want. Normally, using programming software like Freescan is easiest, but since for now you are only interested in monitoring a couple frequencies it is just as easy to manually program it in (it it always good to learn your scanner functions manually before using software, you'll have a better understanding of how your scanner operates this way).
There are two ways to manually program; you can type the frequencies first (which will automatically create a system and group for them), or you can create a system and group first then add the channels to it.
Method 1: Frequency first: Press "HOLD" > type frequency > press "E" (repeat for any additional frequencies you wish to monitor). This will automatically create a system called "Qck Save Cvn Sys, and within that system a group called Qck Save Grp (you can edit the names later).
Method 2: System/Group first: Press "MENU" > Program System > New System > Conventional > Yes > Edit Group > New Group > Edit Channel > New Channel > Input Frequency.
Method 1 is the fastest and easiest way to get you up and running for now. I would recommend you download and install
Freescan. This is a great (and FREE) program for programming Uniden DMA scanners (including the BCT15X).
Enjoy your new scanner
