So yesterday I tried getting through to uniden's exclusive phone line just for scanners: 1 (800) 620-7531

I spent over an hour on hold, I finally gave up, as my commute in the car was over anyways.

Today I decided to call at around 11am, finally got through to Sam the only agent that was in the office today!

I asked him how many customer service techs do they have, since they setup this new call center in a different location, from headquarters, he said there's one other person, but they were off today!

This is insane! One agent in this new exclusive Uniden scanner call center! Not to say Sam wasn't terrific, but come on Uniden one tech agent, on a Friday! And only two during the week.

We support you guys with spending our hard earned money, and you give us on average over an hour plus, to get through to scanner support!

Please Uniden you need to make some adjustments on how you operate, or most of us will be shopping elsewhere!

Thank Paul!

I'm curious. Was it a technical question on use of the scanner? I have always thought this forum could pretty much answer any question on usage and repairs.

Read this first:

Then try:

Uniden Careers

But you'll just get "This page is not available to view."

Interesting reading, but it's nothing I'm new to. The gripes of the former Uniden tech are really no different than the gripes I have about my current job - just substitute "scanner noise" for "shipping noise" and my calls are pretty much the same thing. Lots of great people call in with all sorts of questions and to report issues, but for every one of them there's at least one other person that can't even turn on a computer without help, and those are always the ones yelling loudest about wanting a refund or expecting us to literally drop everything else we have going for all of our other customers and hold their hand as they use the software I support.

His gripes and mine are things all customers should be aware of. The guy who waited over an hour was no doubt stuck in queue behind one of these "what's a scanner do" and "what's the frequency of (insert obscure agency here)" customers. Let's be mindful of the fact that whoever we call for tech support, they have other people waiting to talk to them too, so it's not fair to monopolize their time with questions we could research and answer ourselves.

As for the careers page, well no sense in applying until there's a job to apply to. I'm not able to move to Texas for this job either, so I'd have to work from home - no sense in applying until I know if that would be a viable option or not as well.

Years back when I had the wooden cabinet "Regency (before Uniden) the big boss said we have done all we can for you in repair....The "tone-by-pass in the scanner went off with every high pitched lady dispatcher, I got the name of a "Tech" in the repair, called him, he said send me your scanner I will take care of you, and he DID FREE....Some good people in high places!!
