SDS100/SDS200: Uniden Not Scanning Departments

Hi All,

I recently got a Uniden SDS200 and went about setting up the Database and favorite lists. On the first go around, I was able to hear normal traffic while doing a zipcode search through a set of precincts. I went about adding a new favorite list and restarted it after writing to the SD card and now when it scans it completely skips over any precincts inside the Departments in the Database, and only seems to scan sites. My original favorite list is doing the same thing now. When I set the sites to avoid, it shows nothing to can - I have all services enabled. I tried wiping out and resetting to factory settings, but it is doing the same thing. Is there a setting in the profile that may make it skip over sites? I don't mind that it doesn't pick up traffic in this instance, but it isn't even attempting to scan it.

Are you using Location Control on your Favorite lists? If so, did you create your list by appending from the main database, or by manually entering the details. If you manually added systems (and departments), did you be sure to also add the location details (that's if you are using location control). If not using location, then the system & departments can scan regardless of whether location data is present. You do have your list(s), bith original & new, set in your profile to be both downloaded to the scanner and be monitored?

If you are using location control, but only had those details in the sites, not newly added departments, then only the sites would be scanned.

Most of the system (Nassau County Public Safety) is encrypted including all police, both county and village. Only police you will hear is Suffolks command band and only if you’re r scanning the 800 mhz site.

If you hit channel hold, and scroll thru the depts, do you see an tg’s?

I turned tried with both location control on and off. When I had it on I set the range to be larger then what would be considered optimal just to see if it would start scanning anything in the Departments, but not change either way. Both are monitored and downloaded.

I can see the Department's scrolling through - I did notice a blip of writing on the top as it was scrolling that said "ENCRY" - does that mean it found something on the frequency and just can't parse it?

Re-read post #3. Encrypted transmissions are just that. They can't be decoded by any radio not intended to operate on the system

When looking at the system,

anything with a DE in the mode column is encrypted and can not be monitored.

Anything listing just D can be. There is also a patch or two that are not listed (6xxxx tg id numbers) and they come from Suffolk County and can only be monitored if you are on the 800mhz site.
