They have been selling Unidens for a couple years now.

I have actually bought a Uniden from R/S - Just haven't seen this particular offer.

They are definately ripping people off. I guess if they buy it there, they ripped theirself off by not doing the researh.

The bad thing is, some poor sap will buy the BC246T for nearly $400 and then come here later trying to sell it for $350

Well actually Radio Shack had not sold Uniden exclusively since the BC796D and BC296D were first available. As soon as the PRO-2096 was available they dropped all Uniden’s except the OEM versions.

This is an interesting change to be sure. It will be interesting to see if the BCD996T will be available (for about $1000? )

Does this mean no GRE until the holidays?

Just for your info, those scanners are online only. You cannot order them in the stores (well you can if you use the stores internet and order it off of radioshack.com).

Any catalog number that beings with 550 is online only, and will never be seen in the stores.

Correct, the BCD796/296D were web only also.

I don't think they going to sell to many them with that web price. Almost all the R/S brands are on the bye bye price ending with .97. With uniden showing up as new radios, I wonder what r/s plan for the furture with scanners.

That's about what they would have charged up here if they were still around here and selling scanners. They were trying to sell the old Uniden BC245xlt's for $499.00 Canadian just before they folded up here a few years back. Unreal.

Oh and I should add that here in Manitoba we have to pay another 14% tax on top of that price to make the total $193.79, Nuts eh? Shows you why we shop online down to the south of the border. :lol:
