Paul, a lot of us appreciate your presence here and we want to do the best we can to accommodate you. With the ferocity and voraciousness that many of the fans have I do not envy your position.

What I'll probably do soon is give you sole posting privileges to the parent forum so you can post announcement threads. I need to clean out the parent forum first.

Way to many choices of sub-forums IMHO.If it were me i would get rid of the Uniden Tavern move the posts to rants or the everything else section. Also streamlining it might be easier to navigate. One sub-forum for digital trunk-trackers one for analog trunk-trackers and one for everything else conventional that will cover pretty much every thing older up to the 125AT.Also get rid of the uniden software forum and split the various scanner companies into sub-forums in the scanner software forum that already is here on the site.Again just my random thoughts.

Thanks for confirming this, I know Rome was not built overnight and it will take a lot of effort to sort and move things around.
Thanks James. It will certainly take a lot time given the amount of posts in the Uniden forum. In only six days nine pages worth of posts were created. The Uniden forum is one of the busiest if not the busiest of all forums here. I wish everyone would understand the traffic this forum generates and the need to organize it.

So, everyone, rest assured this dreaded change won't occur in the other manufacturer forums for several months at least.

The purpose of the Uniden Tavern is to serve as a place for opinions not specifically rants; what you like about the scanner and/or what you hate. Trust me, we are not encouraging members to rant now that their is an "opinions" forum.

The idea is not to split up support topics for one scanner across multiple forums. The use of thread prefixes is meant to highlight the model the topic is for so there is no need for model specific forums. Members can use the advanced search based on these prefixes also.

Ok thats cool i just thought it would be easier to have it set up like that. One thing might want to add a vintage or other uniden sub-forum as i do not see antything in the pre-fixes for any of the older xlt series or the 350 series for that matter.

I'm going to add them at a later date. It's time consuming so only the newer or more popular models got added.

The problem with this approach is it all but eliminates the browsability of the Uniden forum. Most of the time I'm not looking to find a solution to a specific problem but to keep up on general information about Uniden scanners. It was very easy to visit one section, scan the headlines, look at the items of interest then move on.

This structure completely eliminates the ability to quickly scan topics. Now you have to go through a half a dozen different sections just to see what's going on. I'm simply not going to do that anymore. I'll come here when I need to find something specific like a firmware update, but as far as participating in or keeping up on things in general it's just not worth the hassle with this structure.

It's also a bit baffling as to why the forum administrators thought there was a problem to solve - I'd visit maybe twice a day and there were maybe one or two pages of new threads and that was it. Not a very high volume at all. This move seems more like someone sorting M&Ms versus just eating the candy.
