Uniden UBC 125XLT

I've been using this Uniden UBC 125XLT scanner for a short while having purchased from new. The battery life is attrocious, to the point that it's so bad I've decided to sell the unit. Considering it's a receiver and not a transceiver, I really don't understand why the current draw on supply is so huge? I have radio tranceivers where the batteries last for many hours and they're putting out a 5-10watt signal? So it's a big thumbs down from me.

What batteries are you using? It has been a few years since i had mine, but I would get 5 - 6 hours from mine.
