I've had a BCD396XT for 10+ years that is now basically just in my kit to use with pro96com. When I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 my USB-1 cable (factory cable) stopped working. I did a little research and found there is apparently a new version. I absolutely hate cables with the prolific chipset.

Is there anything better aftermarket that uses the FTDI chips etc that is actually verified and working? My use is just programming and pro96com.

There is an error in that link. The cable for the BC296D is not compatible with the BCD396XT. The scanner plug is different.

Yes, the BCD296D inclusion in the description for that cable is incorrect, but the cable does have the correct scanner connector (Hirose) for the BCD396XT and other Uniden scanners that use that connector.

I am using that cable for my BCD996XT.

I ordered this one when my original quit working after upgrading computers. Not sure that it’s the cheapest, best, or if it’s even OEM but it works
