I am trying to program the Tennessee Advanced Communications P25 system with Radioreference Database which I am a paying member of and I am having a senior moment trying to program it. When I do it I have selected both one at a time with either (P25 Standard Digital XT) and the MOT Type 11/P25 and I am able to get them both in my Favorites list. I have selected the same quick key for all sites and and it will not load with my other groups in my favorites list. I'm sure it's simple but have not programmed any P25 frequencies in years in this radio. Any help would be appreciated.

What scanner do you have? The BCD996XT does not have favorites lists. It sounds like you may be using FreeSCAN software.

I wouldn't think you need to add two iterations of the same system. Doing so may cause the scanner to be confused.

P25 Standard would be the one to use.

System Name:Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN)
Location:Various, TN GA
County:5 counties
System Type:Project 25 Phase II
and there is a lot of T(phase2) the XT only does phase 1, and there are talkgroups that are DE(encrypted.) and the 996XT will not get them.
what county are you trying to listen to ?

FreeSCAN imports the sites as Mot Type II/P25, which was correct for the original 396T/996T. The XT scanners added the system type P25 Standard (Digital XT). After a FreeSCAN import, into scanners other than the 396T or 996T, change the system type.

I tried them one at a time and neither one of them is working.

the 996xt will not decode p25 phase 2 comms which it seems what you are trying to listen to, however the 996p2 does decode p25 phase 2 comms and will work on this system.

I'll ask again, what site/tower are you trying to listen to ?

if you try to listen to 5 sites, the radio stays on each system for 2 seconds (housekeeping).
so if you actually can only hear 1 system, 8 out of 10 seconds the radio will do nothing.
odds are you can't hear the whole system anyway.
try putting in the closest tower to you.
also could you tell us what tower as many of them you will hear nothing

Yes I understand that. I am listening to Theta, Thompson Station, Franklin, Pulaski, Gills Chapel, Crestview all in range and trying to Listen to THP Lawrenceburg Dispatch. I have had them installed years ago and they worked fine but I am not having any luck this time and not sure why.

district 7 is all TDMA you will need a 996P2 to hear them.
in the database under a box that says [mode] if it has a D you can hear them.
any with T, Te, TE, DE you will not be able to hear.
any with De you might get them sometimes. (e= part time encryption)

Ok thanks great explanation I guess they have changed over the years to TDMA and I am sure that is the problem. I can hear them perfectly on my SDS200. Thanks all for your help I do appreciate it. I am not new at scanners by any means just getting older and the the brain cells are fading quickly.
