Good Morning,

I have been a scanner enthusiast since I was 15 (anyone remember the 4 channel crystal run Radio Shack Scanner?). My company just bought the above scanner and it is one of the most difficult to operate and understand.

My question is this: I work in Port Huron, Michigan. The company I work for as security wants to monitor Port Huron City Police, City Fire and the local ambulance service. How do I set up this scanner to receive only those frequencies and not all of St. Clair County? I want to create a separate "bank" for just PHPD and PHFD, yet still be able to switch back to the entire county.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Signed

Go to the freescan website, you can download from the radioreference database. This should only take a short time.

Public safety in your area uses the MPSCS trunked system, so there aren't frequencies specific to any department or agency.

Banks are only applicable to old-style non-trunked frequencies.

You will need to program the MPSCS system sites in your area, and the talkgroups used by the agencies you want to hear. There is not a direct correlation between a site or frequency and a talkgroup. Under the MPSCS system, you can program groups of talkgroups that you can toggle on and off separately, i.e. on group of county talkgroups, and another group of Port Huron talkgroups.
