I have been using UT v2 to collect data on several of the local (Davis Co) UCA P25 Control Channels (CC), and have noticed an issue with the decoding. I am looking for someone in the are to converse with, to determine if the problem is me, or the program. In short, decoding some CC's the program creates new sites in other systems (01E, 00A, 014).

If I tune to 774.68125, Control Channel for System 01E, Site 010-010; the program will populate system 00A with Site 010-010 and site 033-033, system 014 with Site 010-010, and system 01E with site 02-029. But no data. It just creates the sites.
There are two other freqs that do similar entries.

I don't think you have any issue since those are valid systems.

Agreed, the systems are valid. Disagree, that there is an issue. 1 Control Channel should equal 1 Site. Not 1 Control Channel covering 5 different sites over three different systems.

1 channel does not necessarily equal one site. Remember your SDR is pulling in everything it sees, where an agencies radio is programmed to filter out everything except what it wants to hear, however, that wasn't the issue you asked about.

You can join the Unitrunker Google Group where the author posts updates about new versions, releases beta versions and answers questions. If you do decide to do that I would recommend you post screenshoots with examples of the issue to help others understand and respond, along with information on how many SDRs and VFOs you are using. When asking for help the more information/documentation you provide the better the answers you'll get.

Have you messed around with any other software? Unitrunker only displays info that it is decoding from the system itself. Also, what you're seeing may have something to do with the systems all still being in testing mode.

I only noticed the issue a couple days ago, and have not tried other software. (truthfully, I liked Unitrunker so much, i didn't want to try anything else ). Guess it's time to expand my horizons. And it may be a test mode issue. This control channel is for the North Salt Lake Site, and my understanding is that this site is testing the system.

SDRTrunk is super easy to use once you figure things out. It also allows for imports from RR, so it takes a lot of the headache out of getting started.

A lot of guys run both - unitrunker for the logging and sdrtrunk for recording.

I believe the Utah system is phase II, and unitrunker only decodes phase I.

unitrunker is ok for our system as far as the control channel is concerned because its phase 1 and some traffic is phase 1, it will show phase 2 traffic but no audio, I haven't heard audio on mine at all. but it still show the talkgroup and the unit ID if its not patched, if its patch or comes from EXTERNAL then its 0. dsdplus is another great resource and will work well with phase 1 and 2 communications as well as other types.

the control channel decodes as phase 1, the traffic so far has consisted of phase 1 and phase 2, most of it currently is patched from vhf . which may change the phase 1 traffic later.. don't know.

I've been using Unitrunker for finding/logging new frequencies and Talkgroups. My focus has been searching for the "unknowns". When actually listening, I have several receivers that I can/do use. (i still can't get sdrtrunk to work, but will keep trying)
