I was listening to the Washtenaw County TRS when I heard someone getting toned out on Saline FD's FG channel (TG# 47376). Is there some other dept. aside from Saline that gets toned out on that Channel?

I was listening to the Washtenaw County TRS when I heard someone getting toned out on Saline FD's FG channel (TG# 47376). Is there some other dept. aside from Saline that gets toned out on that Channel?

So if I read this right, you're saying Saline ( and others?) are being toned out over the 800 system?
So as your question gets answered (I don't know the answer), I'd like to know if the fire fighters are getting toned out thru their handheld radios, or is it thru smaller devices (like a pager or minitor)?

It's patched with 154.250. You will hear most of the county and then some on that talkgroup. Unlike the other TRS patch on 46992, this one is active all the time so far.

There are no pagers that work with tones on digital (let alone trunked) systems... Anything that would be capable would be VERY expensive.

Possible, but, highly unlikely. I just found it odd that a dept (I don't know if this was Saline or not as it was very staticy). was using tones on an analog trs. Far as a patch goes, It very well could be as I think they dispatch their own calls (at least they used to once upon a time) on 154.250. I heard similar on MPSCS TG 2310 (Milan Fire) awhile back. it was patched to 159.090.

There are no pagers that work with tones on digital (let alone trunked) systems... Anything that would be capable would be VERY expensive.

I know some volunteer firefighters that DON'T want to have to carry "The Brick" (their fond nickname for their XTS radios) with them everywhere they go. And I also know one that seems to want to go everywhere with two handhelds strapped to his side like he's gunslinger.

I heard that they are debating weather to build a multi-cast system or joining MPSCS.

What is being done is this. Washtenaw County Fire is on 154.250. That is patched the 800MHz Analog system for a couple of the departments. However, it appears that Saline was having difficulties and now 154.250 is permanently patched to 47376. You will hear a lot of fire departments toned out on this frequency. Part of the reason is because the Fire Antenna is up at the 350' level and hears rather well. The saline twp fire antenna actually receives better than the county antenna. Most of all the fire departments you will hear are in Ohio.

Washtenaw County is joining the MPSCS system. 2 of the 6 tower sites already have towers up. They are going to be a MPSCS Sub-System.

As far as tone outs for the county, everything is done on VHF, you cannot have fire tone outs on the digitial side. Only thing you can do is patch, then it sounds like crap.
