Hi all,
Time now is about 10:35 EDT, sorry for not having conversions I am posting on the fly,

But between frequencies 4.445 -5.585 and 4.770-4.790 there are these pulsing spectrum sweeps constantly happening. the signal is very strong in the New York Metropolitan area and I have contacted other locals about it and they are finding it too. It is also creating larger spectrum sweeps all around the area and the power levels are extremely sparatic.
Has anyone else found this and does anyone know what it is?

Thanks - Katt

CODAR is a specialized radar that primarily monitors wave action and ocean currents. Although CODAR can be found in various segments across the HF spectrum, CODAR is very common in this specific frequency range.

Some examples of CODAR from my YouTube channel:

There are literally hundreds of these systems around the world. That can make it a bit difficult to be certain which specific one you are hearing. A couple of links below that can help you determine which specific CODAR you might be hearing:

Yes, after a few hours of investigation we came across that page and found what it was! It was very interesting to see how it all worked

I've received CODAR here in Tiltonsville, OH too on my Grundig G6 Aviator. The last several days, I've also received the Iranian Ghadir OTH radar from Iran in the 28,285 and 28,385 Kc area in the 10 meter amateur radio band. I was using my Noo-Elec SDR dongle with a long wire antenna and HDSDR for the latter.
