I have been monitoring a trunk system from here for about 8 months
and never put much thought into it. But I decided to look up this
system and find out it's location, but am not having any luck.
I have always thought this system was in Knox County since
the traffic on the system gave me clues to who is using it. But
a search has turned up nothing.
I have control channels and plenty of talkgroup id's ( most of
which are yet to be identified as to who is using them), but can't
find any info on it.
Here are the control channels:

856.5375
857.5375
858.5375 (2nd control)
859.5375 (main control)
860.5375

95 percent of the time the control channel is what I labled 'main'
and the other 5 percent it is on what I labled '2nd'.
Any help out there on this system would be great as I am not having
any luck in locating it. Most users seem to be business not police or
fire. (taxi, wreckers, gas truck delivery drivers,...etc...)

Thanks in advance,
Danny

Could it be the Metro Communications system on Chilowee Mountain in Sevier County? WPGV371

If not, then it's probably a Nextel system.

Thanks for your replies, ericcarlson and remedy44, it seems
both of you have found the system. (WPGV371 METRO COMMUNICATIONS LLC KNOXVILLE, TN)
That system is most likely what I have been monitoring this
year. It is a stronger signal than the Knox County trunk and
with its location being physically closer to me that would be the
case.
Like I stated, I have many un-identified id's for users on the
system and monitor it quite a bit trying to figure out whom they
are. I can figure out what kind of company that they are
but to give them a name isn't going to be easy. (example: taxi, wreckers...etc..)

But again thanks for your help and hopefully I can post my findings
soon.

If your familiar with various business in the area,.. you should be able to ID the Tow Trcks and Taxi's soon eneough..... the Tow Trucks would be the easiest to ID as most Tow Companies have contracts on a rotation basis with all your LEA's all you have to do is monitor for calls for a tt from any lea,.. then listen to which company is dispatched... if they are on the SMR then youll hear thier traffic..... As for the Taxi's,.. look at the cabs when you get a chance and see what type of antenna they have on em. As for other business users,.. if you can see the ants that will help you out a lot.

This is a good idea, but unfortunatly I do not live near Knoxville and only
travel there once in a blue moon. Thats what makes it hard to find out
whom is using the system.
But the Dispatching part and then listening for response on the other
system I can do, so I will give that a try...thanks.
