Is there a way in any of the programming softwares to unmute encrypted talkgroups?...especially in ID SEARCH mode considering that mode's purpose to discover talkgroups. If there are unlisted encrypted talkgroups out there on radio systems, and the scanner won't stop on those talkgroups while in ID SEARCH mode, those talkgroups will never be discovered via a Uniden scanner.

Edit: Radio Shack, Gre, and Whistler scanners will allow users to discover encrypted TGs, but Uniden mutes encryption, thus making them unable to be discovered on a Uniden scanner.

Uniden has heard those complaints a plenty, even during UPMAN's time, They made their choice and never looked backed. The complainers were scoffed at. It should always have been an option to turn off that feature, for the very reasons the op posed.
So now we have after market firmware. Or are required to use separate programs to find simple info, that a $600+ radio can't do.

Personally I'd find that more of a nuisance than a benefit on a Uniden. I prefer DSD+ for documenting encryption but, different strokes for different folks. With that said in ID Search mode on the x36HPs and SDSx00s as long as you don't have them programmed in and avoided you should see encrypted talkgroups briefly flash up on the screen for a half second with the words ENC or ENCRY towards the top of the screen.

You can always get an old Pro-2096 and run Pro96com software to log everything on a p25 trunking site. Or you can just run your scanner in Discovery mode. It still logs the encrypted talkgroups even though the audio is muted.

You didn't understand my question. Obviously I know I can use RS/GRE/WS equipment, I stated that in my post.

Do you watch your scanner's screen like you're watching TV?..I don't. However, if I wake up at 2am and hear a bunch of encryption coming from my scanner, I'm going to investigate. I may learn that there is a bunch of Bomb Squad radio traffic; and from that chances are there is bomb squad incident somewhere. Using a Uniden scanner, Uniden doesn't give you the option to know that there is a bunch of encrypted radio traffic going on.

I just left you another option with the answer to your question
I don't think you remember what my question is, because none of this answers my question. I'm not trying to "log" encrypted TGs. What I'm going for is to HEAR when encrypted TGs are in-use.

To add to Whiskey3JMC's point,
I use ARC536 PRO for logging and control.
It will log those quickly passed over TGID's and this includes RID's. But it is only a workaround, and you need to be tethered to the PC.

Sadly, It's just not gonna happen, it is what it is.
You'd need a Whistler for that.

Some people don't want to use a computer etc. It should be a toggle etc. Especially if I monitor a local system and a talk-group goes quiet all sudden and start hearing R2D2 then bam you know what happened.

Don't get me wrong, I desire the remedy as well. The ball has been sitting on Uniden's side of the court for a long, long time. I don't see anyone that's actually gonna pick up that ball anymore...
