I like to listen to airports when I travel, especially when I make connections somewhere along the way. I build my Favorite Lists for my 436HP from the database. One thing I've noticed is that some airlines at airports listed in the database have a lot of outdated information. One airport I was looking at earlier today had listings for TWA and ATA,, both of which have been gone for awhile. US Air and America West listings need to be checked to see if American is using them now. Northwest listings need to be checked to see if Delta is using them now. Continental listings need to be checked to see if United is using them now. Since the database (and those who use database instead of Favorite Lists) is dependent on user submissions, I think it would be a good idea for everyone to check their own areas to see if any corrections need to be made.

I'm also kind of disappointed. They say the ATCC frequency database is updated every three months are so but when I look at the ATCC databases on RR and they haven't been updated in iver a year. I don't understand the other aspects of the database seem to be updated on a fairly regular basis.

It's user-driven, if someone does not submit changes it ain't gonna' happen.

Did either of you submit those for correction or removal?

Making Corrections

Actually, I'm working on correction submissions for my home area here in North Carolina. The airport that I saw listings for TWA and ATA is the Indianapolis Airport in Indiana, several states away from me. I can make a submission indicating that those airlines no longer exist but until I head up there, I have no way of knowing if another company is using those frequencies or not. That's why I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to check the database for their home areas to see if things are up to date or not. Also, it should not limited to aviation-related frequencies. Some of the things I'm seeing are like UHF Law Enforcement Dispatch channels still listed when they have been on a trunked system for years and the cars don't even have UHF radios in them any more. Another thing is LTR systems listed in the Database that have not been updated in 10 years or more. Do they still exist? Have they moved to DMR or NXDN? Things like that. Yes the Database is user-driven, but I also think that means that we all need to check to see if things are still valid or not from time to time. I create my own Favorite Lists for my HP-2 and 436HP but those who rely on the pre-loaded, zip code based database are sometimes scanning things that are not there anymore.
