updating the 96

how does a person go about updating the 96 from radio shack web site as i dont see the product manual tab do i need to down load somthing else first

They only had one upgrade that could be applied by the end user via their computer. It was over a year ago, and it addressed DSP. What version are you using? To find out, turn the scanner OFF, then turn it back ON, and when the "Welcome..." screen appears, quickly press, and hold the #3 key for a moment. It should display several lines that show the version number of the various components.
