I am looking to do a scanner upgrade that I have in my truck. I currently have a Uniden BC350a (that works ok) it is paired with a Larsen Tri Band Antenna (NMO mount) in my 2019 Ford Ranger.

I would like to upgrade to something that is newer, better receiving etc. I have been looking at the Uniden BCT15x. my questions are:

How user friendly is this?
Is this good for my application?
Will this work with my antenna?
How hard to program?

Thank you in advance.

The BCT15X should work fine to bring in anything in the RRDB ID'ed as mode "AM", "FM" or "FMN". With that said,
your county's law enforcement and city's LE operations are P25 conventional. The BCT15X will NOT work to bring them in as it is an analog only scanner. You'll need to choose a scanner from this list to handle any sort of P25. If you're looking for something with equivalent memory architecture and form factor to the BCT15X then I'd consider the BCD996XT to bring in P25 conventional comms

Learning curve varies. Do you have experience with Uniden DMA scanners at all?

How hard to program?
They can be programmed with ease using Proscan. Having a Radioreference premium subscription so you can utilize the RR web import service helps tremendously
