In a recent (hijacked) thread here, I posed what I take to be two reasonable, and as yet unanswered questions to this forum's resident marketer and company shill, UPMan:
1) Has Uniden corrected the most egregious defects in x36 radios in current production runs? In other words, are they "safe" to buy?
2) If so, what is the serial number cut-off?
Of course, the usual suspects here were motivated to remind us of the bloody obvious: the "Man" isn't likely to help us out thusly. His paymasters would rather sell the defective products and deal with the complaints on the back end after they have the money -- confident that the many will live with them and be silent. Therein lies the beauty of American corporate culture. It soars.
Practicalities aside, there is a compelling morality, it seems to me, in a certain transparency after a screw-up, and a certain immorality in silence or in diversionary $50 "upgrades" to the blatantly defective.
Therefore, I call thee out, UPMan: are you still selling junk?
