Does anyone know if Police/Fire units on the UESC have the conventional NPSPAC frequencies programmed in their radios ?

Brian they should have them in their radio's as they are an 800mhz entity & they are apart of the NPSPAC region 20 system.

NPSPAC/Interopability

Thanks Nathan, I wasn't sure since they are not posted as part of the database for the UESC. If they are programmed into the radios are they patched to a TG or are they just conventional channels?

On a bigger note, do you have any information on the State of Maryland's overall plan for NPSPAC channel usage and interopability? Since many of the radio systems in MD are migrating to Motorola will NPSPAC just fade away or are there other plans for the state regarding this? I remember a posting from a few months ago mentioning the state installing a statewide interopabilty network that will link all of the dispatch centers together and using the NPSPAC channels as the backbone.

I am not sure about MAryland, but in other locations, the NPSPAC freqs are used as one of the backups if the trunked systems go down or are off-line for maintenance or upgrades. For that reason, even though they may be patched to talkgroups, they are usually available as conventional channels in the radio's programming.

Sure would make sense that the UESC 800 systems would have the NPSPAC freqs available, as several counties border Delaware and such freqs would be the only means of conversing directly w/ DE police/fire. I've never heard testing of the NSPAC freqs by UES participating agencies, but DE has done quite a bit recently and I've heard DE utilize them when the main trunking system was briefly offline. On the topic of mutual aid between the UES area and DE....also consider plugging 155.475 (National Pol Mut Aid) and 154.86 (DSP Statewide Enforcement Net)- these can be accessed by MSP cars for patches into DSP talkgroups.
