URC-200 ISsues

Has anybody had success with installing an outboard PL Tone generator to access 2-Meter repeaters? I've tried injecting the signal directly into the J2 PT Audio Input pins but the 300Hz low frequency response seems to be stopping the 82.5Hz tone needed.

That damn fixed 150 Hz. This is exactly why I eschew Green radios for commercial ones.

There is/was a PL tone option for these that gave all common PL tones. Some eBay radios have it, most don’t. And the 150Hz tone was only if you had the 30-90MHz VHF lo band option which is rare.

2) restricted channels steps (12.5 KHz),
3) 24VDC requirement,
4) No encryption without huge investment in unobtainium,
5) Unavailable replacement parts. (Schematics do exist which is rare for modern green radios)

Then I took a second look at Syntor X 9000 low band radios.

Do you need 10m/6m amateur or just 30-50 low band?

I had one of the UHF ones. I think from a chopper crash, because there was flesh and blood inside. Got it working. But again 28Volts.

A small 12 to 28v converter to run the radio is easy. I have a spare TFM-30 that I run from a 12-28v converter and a 28v AC power supply but don’t use it since I got a triband TFM-550. I’ll probably put the TFM-30 up for sale soon.
