USB Bridge IC failure

We are not talking the USB socket. The chip IC2 located on the front control panel/Board.
Mine failed,which was my own fault, Unplugged power while USB plugged in.
I used a guy that had used before that specialises in SMD repair.
There are 2 chips fitted the number depends on whether your radio has a early or later board.
Early radio's use a CP2104 Later radio's us CP2102N Just make sure you buy a 24 pin device NOT 20 or 28

You may want to ask your guy if he's willing to do mail-order work, in case someone can't find a local guy. I did that with the guy that used to do my alternators and starters (until he keeled over one fine day at 48 - cardiac.)

This is UK I took the board out & sent it with the new CP2012N back in 3 days £45

Oh - right. I should have looked. Still, for the potential benefit of our mates across the pond. . .

Just something to chew on - some of us have resources that the others don't, and if they're willing to be shared, it can be quite a service, don't you know. . .
