Continuous carrier on 5696 USB since last nite; can hear comms in background, people talking; I can't believe it's a stuck mic without the op knowing about it.

Continuous carrier on 5696 USB since last nite; can hear comms in background, people talking; I can't believe it's a stuck mic without the op knowing about it.

I used to hear that often from aircraft flying oceanic routes. The ground station couldn't reach them at all, and it took the crew a long time to discover the open mic. As for 5696, I used to hear the USCG comm stations on there frequently, but I haven't heard any activity there for years.

The USCG have mostly moved to the COTHEN net; I haven't heard anything on 5696 or 8983 for awhile either.
