Hi guys,
A couple of years ago the Coast Guard erected a huge tower at the mouth of the Manasquan Inlet alongside the existing rather short one. It has a bunch of rather odd looking antennas that appear to be folded dipoles larger than those used for VHF side mounted and a "crown" of what appears to be 1/4 wave VHF elements on top in a circular pattern. Could be a static dissipator, can't tell if the hard lines run all the way to the top this monster is that high.
Normal transmissions still come from the boat station in Point Pleasant Beach across the channel which leaves me wondering what the unmanned station in Manasquan is for. The long abbreviations on the sign leave me clueless and frankly I forgot to write them down, so if anyone knows what it's about I among others would like to know.
Since I may miss a reply post here please e-mail also kb2vxa@swissinfo.org so I'll be sure to get it. Thanks a bunch in advance.
